The flowering of Castelluccio di Norcia
Castelluccio di Norcia is more than a small village in Umbria. Castelluccio is emotion, it is a magical place where man and nature melt together and find their armony.
Every year, between May and July, the green uniformity of the pasture is replaced by a colourful mosaic which delight the sight and the heart.
Thousand flowers blossom and the three valleys burst with colours. The hues go from the yellow ochre to the red, from the purple to the white. You can admire lentils (grown in Castelluccio, they are one of its famous typical products), gentianella, poppies, narcissus, violets, asphodels, Eugenia violets, clovers, wood sorrels and much more.
Where flora is so spectacular, fauna is not far behind. While walking surrounded by this “natural mosaic”, you could be so lucky to see a gazelle or a roe deer…
